Organizing for results through Media and advocacy.
The sad fact is that the media won't touch stories of the abuse and systematic neglect of America's police veterans. . You can contact the media anywhere in America and you'll get lip service and no print. We can get around the indiference problem by self publishing our stories.
We need a strong Beyond The Shield Journal for our outreach program. When you write to a congressman or senator, or reporter include the link to a journal of stories. A well written journal a collection of stories, resources, spokespeople, and information links will make their job easier and helps overcome the image of police pension cry babies.
America thinks we live on the fat. They want to cut benefits, insurance and pensions coast to coast. If you want anything done you have to do it yourself. Write YOUR STORY, publish it. reference it. I've been quietly working on a relaunch of all of our web resources. It will launch in the next few days. The biggest problem, I have in presenting a proper image is that you the members aren't contributing the raw materials that will turn Beyond The Shield into a NEWS SOURCE.
I've got the bandwidth to put out a very weighty news, and group advocacy site that will launch us to the next level. If you provide stories that identify problems and offer solutions we will have a successful group and successful advocacy. Get you your pencils investigate the problems and put me to work delivering them to the public.
