These are the stories of the American Police Veterans.

America made a promise to take care of those that have protected America.   That promise wasn't broken.  It was empty  words.   Some of those words were turned into laws, where they were ignored.   America Thinks that retired and disabled law enforcement officers are living large at the expense of the taxpayer.   Read their stories.  Then decide for yourself.   Who is paying the ultimate price for safe American communities.

Governor Pataki has vetoed Assembly Bill  A09147 that was introduced by Assemblyman Zebrowski and supported by Senator Morahan.

The bill passed the Assembly by  140 YEA to 1 (one) NAH who was Assemblyman Powell (no surprise here as we all know he is anti-police). The bill passed the Senate.

In vetoing the bill the governor announced there are lawsuits in other states so he decided to veto this bill.

If this is the case, the legislature should work on banning all vanity and speciality plates that are in existence in New York State.

After all an Accountant, Acupuncturist, Chiropractor, Nurse, Volunteer Firefighters, Love Your Library, Fraternal Order of Eagles, Martin Luther King, Masons, Iimage of a heart (Love)NY, Congressional Medal of Honor, Former Prisoner of War,  Jewish War Veterans of America, Purple Heart Recipient, US Veteran, US Submarine Veterans, Disabled Veteran, Disabled American Veteran along with many other organizations, professions, activities and such can still enjoy theirs.

Unfortunately, if your a disabled police officer who placed their lives in harms way and suffered severe catastrophic injuries, just like our war veterans who enjoy a selection of their own plates, are considered zeros.

Thank you Governor for your utmost consideration for the Police Officers of New York.

This should be a rallying cry to the men and women of law enforcement to realize what disabled cops know. When you fall in the line of duty and can't get up, there will be no one there to pick you up!

This is a slap in the face of all that have served, as this disrespectful act is not directed at those that have suffered career ending injuries. It is directed to all that might become disabled in the line of duty.

Please do not be fooled, your chance of qualifying for this disabled police tag is real and the Governor doesn't want you to know it.

The state of New York measures and reports significant events concerning law enforcement, but they don't report disabling injuries. They don't report the hardships endured by those that sufferer from them and they don't report how many pensions are stolen from injured law enforcement officers.

Disabled cops are the BLUE TRUTH of America's police culture. A truth swept under the carpet.

This bill was likely vetoed so that cops will continue to put themselves in harms way. They want you to have a false sense of security and these tags might reveal the BLUE TRUTH....

You and your family are in harms way and nobody will care for you or them!

Maybe, we will have another shot at getting this legislation through next year. Re-Introduce it after, Pataki is gone and Spitzer is the new Govenor.

I am a disabled police officer. I served 19 yrs with NYSP, 11 yrs as BCI Investigator. I was retired after suffering severe injuries to my legs and back, after being struck by a motor vehicle. I have currently undergone eight surgeries to repair my legs, just so I can walk, still assisted with a cane. I await still further surgeries to my legs and back.
I regrettably have experienced first hand the catastrophic effects, disappointments, and feelings of abandonment associated with becoming disabled.
I am very much interested in this issue relative to the "retired and disabled police officer" plates, and any other support services which may be provided regarding police disability.
Would you please keep me apprised of any developments pertinent to these issues.
      Thank you!
