These are the stories of the American Police Veterans.
America made a promise to take care of those that have protected America. That promise wasn't broken. It was empty words. Some of those words were turned into laws, where they were ignored. America Thinks that retired and disabled law enforcement officers are living large at the expense of the taxpayer. Read their stories. Then decide for yourself. Who is paying the ultimate price for safe American communities.
Book reveals shocking account of City abandoning cop at center of racial incident
November 27, 2006 - A former Cincinnati police officer indicted after a suspected drug dealer died in police custody is finally telling his side of the story that made national headlines.
Robert "Blaine" Jorg one of two officers indicted for the death of Roger Owensby, Jr. on November 7, 2000, breaks a six year silence and presents the inside account of what really happened in 13 Minutes, now available in paperback by mail order and selected bookstores.
Three years in the making, 13 Minutes dispels several myths that persist about a case that inflamed passions in a city notorious for strained race relations. Jorg's shocking account also exposes the ineptness, cowardice and dishonesty of high ranking officials within the Prosecutors office, city hall and the police department.
13 Minutes is deeply personal story of an honest, dedicated cop who lived a nightmare. It's a story Blaine has burned to tell since the night he chased and wrestled a suspected drug dealer who previously assaulted another officer and fled from police. It's a story his attorneys would not let Jorg tell as they dealt with lawsuit after lawsuit in the wake of the death of Roger Owensby, Jr.
After nearly six years and $7,500,000 paid in settlement (out of court) by the city of Cincinnati and the community of Golf Manor, Blaine can finally speak of the ordeal that cost him his career, ruined his life, and pushed him to the brink of suicide.
After Blaine was indicted crime in Cincinnati increased 29% and arrests and stops went down 110,200 (57%) in the next twelve months.
About the title: The events that forever linked Blaine Jorg and Roger Owensby, Jr. only lasted 13 minutes, from Jorg stopping Owensby for questioning, the flight and chase and the struggle. Those 13 Minutes ruined the lives of the Owensby family, as well as the families of officers Blaine Jorg and Pat Caton. And sadly, those 13 Minutes divided a city, turned men sworn to uphold truth and justice into liars, and in effect, gave Cincinnati back to the criminals. ______________________________________________________________________________

This book was outstanding! Once you start it, you don't want to put it down. Seems to me that every police force should read this because some day it could happen to you! What a shame they used Blaine Jorg as a scapegoat. Its a travesty the way the Cincinnati Police Department treated one of their own. Imagine if this happened to you and your world was torn apart. This is a true story that ruined families and there was no need for it. This should never have happened. Good luck to Blaine Jorg!! Reply to this

The only thing that Jorge said was true in this book was mostly his name. Yes, I have your book I had had to see what a murder would write and I was right just lies. Closer to the truth is City Beats Story Piling On by L. Blade. Q. Jorg if you did nothing wrong why did you run? Q. Why did you cut off your shirt and hide it in the police car? Q.Why did Mike Allen protect you and the other Officers ? What did you said that Mike Allen had a meeting with all the officers and told them he would not let a policer be found gilty on his shift. Their are so meany unanserwed question that would have came out had I and my family went to trial. And you and meany others would have been in jail.
My son Roger Owensby Jr. was NO drug dealer you NO this.
He was soldier serving his country for 8 years. Had not been home from the war a little over a year when you and others murdered him.
He was a father that took care of his daughter up until his death. Now its my job.
He was my first born the son that prayed to have to start my family. He was loved ,he was need and he will be missed.
You and others took his life and the future we would have had to gether but you will never take away the past we had together.
If this book makes you feel better, good. Make shore you have copy with you when its your time to for you to anserw for the pain you and others have cause my family and I.

What a joke!! In this case, as well as every other case in Cincinnati where a white Officer has shot to death a black man, we hear the families all say the same thing, "What a good, upstanding citizen he was". This is a farce! The majority of the men shot to death have had rap sheets that are many pages in length. How can you defend your child knowing this? Let's face it, Roger was involved in drugs and the proof is in the pudding. What was the white substance in his mouth? I doubt it was peppermint candy! Lets get real here. These two Officers, as well as other Officers, are guilty of nothing more than being political pawns. Why the City decided to pay the Owensby family off is beyond me. This is a part of the reason the City is in the financial situation they are in now. Although I do not wish the death of anyone, your son's death is a result of his own stupidity!!!! Reply to this
